Annotated Summary:
Zoom is a Cloud Based Video Web Conferencing System that is synchronous and allow users to conduct meetings with audio, video, and screen sharing capabilities. As higher institutions begin to use cloud computing for instructional purposes, Zoom participants can have meetings with or without video, web camera and can share screen documents. Zoom can be incorporated into Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard, Moodle, Desire2Learn. A special feature of Zoom is the creation of Rooms where participants/students receive email invitations to participate in activities such as projects, presentations, lecture/discussion, etc. Zoom can be used in distance education settings such as online, hybrid or blended classrooms.
